Archive for2008 Work Trip

Back in the States one week and still recovering

Hello,  I finally uploaded the last 3 days of the work trip to the www.osorno.smugmug.com site today.  Please note there is a slide show option so that you can kick off a day and just sit back and watch it go by.  We will be having a presentation next Sunday at Redeemer at 11:00am, please come and ask questions if you want, we will each be speaking a bit and end it with a slide show.  Hope to see a lot of you then, Felipe

Thank you all for your encouragement and support.  We are exhausted but recovering slowly.  Thank you so much for the welcome home party at the airport when we arrived.  We know it was a really nasty and cold day when we landed and hit that ice cold air stepping out of the airplain - YIKES!  Jenn is still full of energy while the rest of us are going - what hit me!  This happens when you get past 30.   We will get back to everyone soon about when we will have trip presentations ready for people.  I am hearing rumors it will not be on a Sunday morning during church but at a seperate event coming up yet this month?  More later, Felipe for 2008

Saturday from Santiago airport

Suprise!  was not expecting to get connected again before we got home but we did.  We are very tired and the girls and staff were very sad to see us go.  We are examing how the work team will do future trips and we are batting around only going for 12 to 10 days going forward.  The cheapest time of the week to fly is normally on Tuesday through Thursday - which is why we left on a Thursday this year.  But it is less stressful for us and our families if we are not gone so long.  We are also looking at having team members assigned to do infrastructure work, then one or more to various activites with the chicas and another portion of the team who will go out into the community to do mini Habitat for Humanity style house repairs.  Please email us back with your thoughts and ideas about the above, we would really appreciate your feedback on this.    Also if anyone has contacts in other local churches who would like to hear about CHWT, would like to send people our would like to support Sue and Gary and or us, please let us know.  thank you very much for your encouragement,  Felipe

Well we completed the picket fence, the mural just needs touching up and we are left with a few final wrapup projects.  Then there was the festival at night.  Please check out the photos and videos from today.  We are in the home stretch and trying to complete all the projects started and yet still find time to play with the chicas.  Chou, Felipe 2008

Wow,  we are surrounded by crying and very sad chicas and staff.  We leave here in about an hour and will arrive back at GRR airport at 2:00p EST on Sunday - unless there is a major snow storm or blizzard.  It has been a humbling, hard working, fun and crazy trip.  God enabled us to get a lot done.  Thank you for all your support and please come to GRR on Sunday if you can.  Felipe for CHWT 2008
